Hey my name is Nina, I'm almost 16 years old and my mother is making a big deal about the party. Ever since i was little shes been telling me " sense i never had a sweet 16 party I've always told myself that my daughter is going to have the best sweet 16 party ever!" I feel a bit pressured to have a really amazing party. Problem is, i want a themed party but cant find the perfect theme. Im not into flowers, butterflys, gold etc.. I dont want a big fancy party. I'm not high maintenance, i could care less about expensive things. I'm not that kind of girl. I just want a cute party theme so everything can match. I've looked at dozens of party themes and cant find one that matches my personality, I dont like casinos, madi gras, decade themes, paris themes, etc...I hate how picky i am, its so agrivating.

i love zebra print/leopard

i love penguins

I'm artsy

I'm not a big fan of polka dots

i love plaid

  1. Why not try a wild life safari theme. You seem to have a love for animals so maybe decorate it all like you are on safari. Other ideas are:

    The Rocky Horror picture show

    Circus theme

    Murder mystery party

    Beach party

    Olympics theme

    bbq

    Tropical beach

    Super heros

    Sea life

    Country and western

    Pajama party

    Pool party

    Theme park

  2. Hawaiian themes are great.  It's easy because there's tons of hawaiian beach decor in the party stores.  Most people already have some beach clothes at home they could show up in, sandals and hawaiian shirts and such.  There's lots of fun hawaiian food too like kabobs and non-alcoholic daquiris.  You don't have to have a theme either, just pick a color you like and buy all your stuff in that color.

  3. Does your town have a paint-your-own-pottery type place? We had one called "Glazed By You"-- you pay a certain amount and get to pick from tons of different pottery items (plates, vases, PENGUINS, etc. (you name it)), and the store supplys all the paint and tools for you to paint it! They then will glaze it for you cand you come back a few days later to pick it up.

I had a birthday party at this place at about your age, and it was SO much fun.  It is not particularly girly, and everyone gets into it. It is also very laid back-- everyone just sits back and talks and paints-- no pressure.  You can decorate the store however you want for the party-- very done up or not at all.

Might be something fun to look into-- I hope you can find something similar. Good luck and Happy Birthday!

  4. dance club

    have a dance floor

some finger foods that are not messy

    loud music

    a dj

    flashing lites

  5. O.K. u should do a punk rock/animal theme, like have the zebra black and hot pink and penguin white n pink. U can do a collage with like animals with a green and blue and black plaid backround. U can get cupcakes with plaid patterned icing and A cake with zebra and leopard prints.

  6. I totally understand your mom.  When my niece was 16 I SO wanted to throw her a "sweet" sweet 16, but she didn't want a party and I have to tell you, she now regrets that she didn't have one.  You only turn 16 once, enjoy it, have the party, it's one night and you'll see the fun you have!

It broke my heart when she said no to a party, I tried everything, a big party, smaller party, limo with her, her boyfriend, and some friends going out to dinner etc, but she didn't want to do anything and now she wishes she did.  Enjoy your sweet 16 and have fun!!

What about a "sweet" Sweet 16?  With the theme being candy and sweets.  Your centerpieces can be vases filled with skittles or jellybeans with those big lollipops coming out like they're the flowers.

For napkin rings, you can get those candies that look like diamond rings, you can put them around the napkins.

Your colors can be pink and white, or pink white and turquiose.  Keep it bright like a sweet shop!

You can set up an ice cream bar!  Do chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherries, and let everyone make their own sundaes.

You can also have popcorn and cotton candy around.

Revolve the party around sweets, decorate with some balloons and streamers and LOTS of candy!!

Being you like leopard and zebra prints what about doing your party in a jungle theme and base it around those two color schemes?  You can also throw in a stuffed Penguin who came by to say Happy Birthday!  Go to Build -A - Bear and make one just for your party!  You can even take one you already have and put him in party gear and bring him!  Put him in a place where everyone can see him and say he's with the guest of honor and either he got lost on his way to the artic to say Happy Birthday, or he made a special trip.

Back to the zebra and leopard print, you can do the colors of black and white, and also brown and white.  You can do zebra print as one tablecloth if you can find it and then leopard print as the next, and do each table that way, alternating.  Then for decorations, do balloons in black, brown, and white, the colors of the prints and cluster them around the party.  Same with the streamers.

You can then find some jungle decorations, which I'm sure party stores will have tons of and decorate the rest of the party with the.  You may also find safari, which is also a good theme for those prints.

For food, no matter what theme you do, do the food YOU like!  If you like Italian, go with it, you like pizza, go with it, if you like bbq, have a cookout!  Go with the foods you like and don't worry about matching it to a theme.  You have to enjoy your party and what you're eating.  If you don't like the food, why bother serving it at your party?  Same with your cake, it should be YOUR favorite flavors, inside and out, the cake itself and the icing.  Go over the menu with your mom and decide what your favorite food is pasta, chicken, etc.

You can also do a plaid themed party.  There is plenty of plaid in fabric and you can surely decorate with fabric!  You can go to a fabric store and by yards of the plaid fabric that you like.  You can swag the fabric from the center of the ceiling to the corner of the walls.  Then, whatever colors the plaid is in, use those colors to get balloons and other decorations in.  You can also use that fabric to make napkins and tablecloths, or again, use the colors in the fabric and get some tablecloths in the colors of the plaid.  If the plaid has blue and green, alternate each table, let one have a tablecloth of blue and the next one green.  Then do clusters of balloons in the colors of the plaid, streamers in the colors, etc.

This is YOUR sweet 16 and it's about YOU and you have to be Happy!  Don't be upset about being picky, there is SO much you can do with the things that you like!  Have fun with the things that you like and use those things to make your party! You can even do a penguin theme party! You know how much fun that would be!  Do 16 penguins lined in a row!  Have penguins everyone and do the balloons in black and white, etc etc.  I could go on and on,  If you want more ideas, give a yell for me!

I hope some of these ideas helped and really, if you need more ideas if you did like these, just give a yell for maxin96!  I hope these did help and I hope you have a great party and a very Happy Sweet 16!!
