Whats a high school counselor for?

I am going to be a freshmen in September and I just registered for high school today and got my schedule. On their it listed by basic information and my counselor. What is the counselor there for? Are they assigned to you for like personal problems?

  1. they will help you with academic sucess but they will also help if you have other problems...

    mostly there to help make sure your on target for graduation.. and give advice or help you make a plan for what you may want to achieve after like college


  2. In theory they are there if you need help but I have never known anyone to use them for actually counceling.

    They are just there to help you with your schedule and decide what classes you need for graduation and things like that.

  4. Typically, they deal with some personal issues, college and career advice, class scheduling, and any questions you have about high school in general and other opportunities available to you.

  6. I know when I went to high school they took care of your schedule, your credits.. really anything you needed and yes personal issues if you needed to talk to them

  7. shes pretty much there to help you out if you have personal problems like your love life or whatever happens at home

    and also there to help out

    if you are having trouble with school.
