  1. Hello

Have a look at this link.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liger

    Regards Fat Man

  2. Oh don't worry, the Liger is real.

Below is a link that has some awesome pics.http://www.lairweb.org.nz/tiger/ligers.h...

and also explains what a liger is...explains about the markings etc...

  3. I worked at a big cat rescue for over 7 years and got to interact with lions, tigers, leopards and cougars at our facility. I was extremely lucky to visit another rescue and got to play with some ligers and spend some time learning about them. They are the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. They are almost twice the size of either parent due to a condition called "hybrid vigor". Most people don't know this but ligers are much more docile and easy to work with than lions or tigers. The trainer I learned from compared it to a big cat with mild downs syndrome. Most ligers are a tan/orange color with either spots or stripes on their bodies and spots on their faces. Some come out more orange and less stripey. The ligers I worked with were a buff tan color with orange stripes on their backs and spotted faces. The male had the beginnings of a mane, but no liger ever gets a really full mane.

The tigon is the offspring of a male tiger and a female lion. They are much more rare because while a male lion is NOT at all picky what type of female big cat he mates with be it lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar or cougar, the male tiger is VERY picky. Tigons are usually bright orange with little or no stripes and resemble the tiger parent much more.

  4. the dad is a lion and the mum is a tiger and they look different to tigons but bassicly they are a mix of the two

  5. A liger is the offspring of a male lion and female tiger. The offspring of a male tiger and female lion is called a tigon. Like most hybrids, both are usually sterile, but occasionally a female will be fertile. Ligers tend towards gigantism and are usually larger than either of their parents, whilst tigons are usually smaller than their parents.

Here's an image of a liger:
