  1. Well an mp3 player as you probably know plays mp3s, and an mp4 player plays portable video. I used to own an mp3/mp4 player which looked like an ipod nano but was generic.

Generally the expensive brands have a better sound/picture quality, but even the cheaper ones tend to have good audio. If you're planning on buying one, make sure it uses a standard headphone jack, or you'll have to buy an adapter from Best Buy, Circuit City, Radioshack, or another store with electronics.

To get the video on there you'll need a video encoder. Most players come with a disc that has one on there for you. Be aware that if you're planning on putting DVD video on there most DVDs are copy protected and you'll need something like the Aimersoft DVD Ripper which can be found at http://www.aimersoft.com/product-dvd.htm... for $35, or another DVD ripper that will rip to mp4. They just updated their program this week, and it's much better than it was last week.

When ripping the video make sure you use the same aspect ratio as your player, or you won't be able to view it.

As for the 4GB, it's great for music, and will easily hold around 40-50 albums depending on how long they are, and how high-quality the mp3s are. As for video, it's hard to say without knowing the size, picture, and sound quality, but the one I had was a 1GB (with a screen the size of a postage stanp) and I usually had around 2hrs of video and 3-4 albums on it when it was full.
