Whats a parallel port on a computer n what it use for also serial port?

  1. Parallel port were most widely used as printer interfaces.  This is where you would plug your printer into.  Today's computers may or may not have one.  Most of today's popular home printers connect via USB.  Serial ports are for serial communication.  Again alot of devices that used these are now using USB.  Alot of computers today don't even come with these.  Parallel Each bit is transmitted on a different wire.  Serial, all bits are transmitted on a single wire then converted later via a UART


  2. Parallel port is used by older model printers and has been replaced by High Speed USB in newer computers. Serial port could be used to connect an external modem.

  3. Both devices are used to comunicate with other devices,  like printers, scanners, mice, but both are slowly being replaced by USB and Firewire
