  1. Used by military in unarmed combat.  Its a chop with the edge of the hand across the back of the neck.. It can break the neck and kill.  Boxers didn't use the edge of a hand of course but a solid blow even with a boxing glove on could put an opponent out of a fight, was dangerous and was therefore banned.  After all boxing is a sport and about scoring points not killing the opponent.

  2. The other thing that the ref says is "watch your rabbit punches, and watch your kidney punches, let's have a clean good fight, shake hands", etc.

But yes, the other folks are correct, a rabbit punch is a punch the back of the head.

  3. It's an alcohol laced drink the main ingredients being: a stuffed rabbit, a liter of lemonade, a liter of Vodka and lots and lots of ice. It's great for parties and gives you a real kick in the head : P

And oh! There's also a strike in boxing where a boxer rapidly hits his opponent in the back of the head with the flat knuckle end of his gloves, kinda like a hammer blow or a slap with his fist closed. But I doubt if that's what you meant : )

  4. Plain and Simple a rabbit punch, is a punch to the back of the head that can cause some serious brain damage

  5. a punch in the back of the head

  6. As two other people have said it is a punch to the back of the head and neck and this can be very disorienting to a fighter and disrupt his balance, coordination, and ability to think.  If done hard enough it can even kill you as this back part of the skull is very thin and weak as compared to the rest of the skull and where the neck and skull meet there is no protection from the skull at all.
