Whats a retainer????

whats a retainer that they put before they take off your braces??? how does that look like?? and how long do you have to wear that for?? and how do you take care of it???

a retainer is so that your teeth wont move back to being crooked again. i cant tell u how long YOU will have to wear it for bcuz that really just depends on what your orthodonist says. i got my braces off aug. 21 and i have a retainer on the top and bottom the top one is a clear retainer that i take off for brushing my teeth , eating , and cleaning it  and the bottom on is a little wire on the back of my teeth  which i have to have on for 5 years. the clear one i only have to wear it for a year n then after just at night. the way u take of it is well the bottom one i cant take it cuz its perminant so i just brush normaly there and the top retainer is clear so i can just put it in a bowl with hot water and add a denture cleaner or just clean it in mouth wash either way(: its not that bad! i thought that it would look weird but nah its okay(: it just takes some getting use to and make sure u wear it! as much as your dentist recommends it for(:

retainers r what u have to ear after u r finished with brasses.

it like an wire across your teeth

u have ti where it untill your gum gets hard and your teth will not move antmore if your young it might be until 20 years or more depending on your gums

u have to take it of beffore u eat u have to brush it like how u brush your teeth u have to wear it atlest 9 hours an day all togeter u cant get it dented u can where it whiles u sleep or take an nap and u have to brush it after every meal

i have to do it trust me im 22 and have retainers i actully take care of them
