Make sure you are not driving the vehcile when you remove the steering wheel

Most all of the procedures I read are: Disconnect battery, pull SRS(air bag) fuse, Disconnect YELLOW wire at base/bottom of steering column, remove Air Bag and disconnect at steering wheel.

Ensure power cable is disconnected, fit airbag safety retainer frame in case the airbag goes off, And i prefer to sit or stand to one side not directly in front of the steering wheel when removing it :o)

First step is to disconnect BOTH positive (+) and negative (-) from you battery.

Remove all necessary screws holding airbag to wheel and disconnect the airbag wire harness.

Now you can remove the airbag assembly from the steering wheel.

Now using a 19mm ratchet, undo the hub nut.

Using a steering wheel puller remove the wheel.

Reverse to install.

First set your front wheels and steering wheel in their straight ahead position. Then follow the recommended procedures for deactivating the air bag system. Once the driver air bag is removed make sure to sit it in an up right(as if ir was installed not laying down) position. At this point  remove the steering wheel and lock the air bag wire supply assembly (AKA clock spring) with the proper tool .If the tool is not available you will either have to make one or figure out another way to lock it.Since you did not state what vehicle or what repair you are doing I can not help beyond this point. Since you ask this  question I assume you are not experienced with air bags and safety restraint systems. Air bags are expensive and if you deploy it you will spend more money than if you had taken it to a professional tech(highly recommended). If you do it your self proceed slowly and use great car if the air bag goes off while working on it you could be hurt badly or even killed(I am serious).

Disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes for the system to fully discharge.
