  1. -It is the variety of surfboards you own.

    - you can have a long bord,short boardard, a fish,and so on...

-a stance is the way you stand on a surfboard. You eather have left foot in front which is regular ,or right foot in frount which is goofy.

    - A surf trip is when you surf some place that isnt your local or usual spot, and you stay thier for a couple of days.

-Thier are many types of fins, and each fin allow you to make certin manuvers on a surfboard much easyer. for instance if your rideing a longboard and you want to nose ride (go to the front of the board -hang 10) you would need  more of a hachet shaped fin. if you are in to making different types  of turns you would need a cut away fin or a normal rake fin.. this is the basic shape fin. its a little more versitlile than most fins. you can make turns pritty easy and still nose ride. you can also have diffrent types of fin set-ups like a single fin, quad, or 2+1 set up. (three fins)

  2. Quiver = the boards you have

    My current quiver - 1969 Weber Feather - 9'6"

    1970 Nomad (twin fin) 6'4", 1989 Action (fish) 7'6", 2000 Allison (long board) 9'4", 2002 Allison (funboard) 7'8", 2007 Allison (twin fin fish) 7'8" and a 2008 Lost SDII 7'8".

Stance = which foot you put forward, left foot forward -normal or regular, right foot forward - goofy footed.

Surf tip = take lessons before you start, be a competent ocean swimmer before you take surf lessons, don't buy a surfboard until you are sure it's the right one for you.

Some boards have single fins, some have twin (2) fins and some have three fins. Some three fins boards have fins of the same size, others are called 2+1, with a longer middle fin. Some fins are removable and/or adjustable, some are not. Future and FCS are two big name fin manufacturers. When I started surfing in 1966, fins were very big, and permanently attached, and called 'skegs'

  3. the big clambouski thinks quiver is not important no pay attention

  4. a surf quiver is all of the surfboards that you have. like i have a 6'4" shortboard and a 6'6" fish and a 7'3" mini-mal and that is my surf quiver.

a stance is like how you stand on the board. there is goofy and regular stances. like my stance is with my right foot in front so i am goofy. and i usually stand with my back foot near the tail of the board on the traction pad. thats my stance.

a surf tip to you is when you are surfing in waters that usually have sharks in them, dont splash around like a wounded seal or fish because a hungry shark might be looking for an easy meal.

fins can be removable and glassed on. there are advantages and disadvantages of the glassed on fins because they are a pain to get replaced. the removable fins are more common and most people prefer this kind. there are different types of fins. there is the thruster (3 fins) found on a lot of boards but mostly shortboards. the quad fins (4 fins) almost always found on the fish boards. and that one big fin in the middle of some longboards and malibus

    i hope this helps

  5. i think a quiver is the surfboards you own, kind've like a quiver of arrows, its your arsenal to defeat your enemy, in this case, the enemies are your waves, so shred them to pieces!!!!!!!

    - stance, like "are you goofy or regular" do you surf with your right foot first or your left foot first.

-there are alot of different types of fins, just get the simple ones..

    - my surf tip to you, is don't get caught a rip current, and when you finally catch a wave, ShRedD it tO pieceS!!!

  6. A quiver is a range of boards you have for different conditions for example, mine are...

5'10" Skye Bourton quad fin bat-tail (for small, clean waves and boosting airs) holds in surprising big conditions.

5'11" DHD single concave thruster - all-round, quick turning board (up to 4/5 foot) - absolutely amazing.

6'2" V-bottom fish - small wave fun (made by me)

6'2" MMY rounded pin double-concave thruster - Indonesia board with blocky rails - straight line speed.

6'6" Q-Stix Wayne Lynch shaped squash tail, flat bottom thruster - all round board - sick in every condition I've ever tried it, but especially super-sucky Hossegor beachies.

6'8" HIC thruster squash tail, spiral bottom - for big days.

Stance is goofy or natural - goofy is right foot forward, natural the opposite (goofy is better)!! Haha.

There are hundreds of types of fins but by far the most popular are FCS (despite their downfalls). If you're going to travel then it's a really good idea to get FCS fitted because you can buy them anywhere in the world. Your local shaper may advise a wierd and wonderful new system, but what's the point if you snap one halfway around the world and can't replace it?? They will form pressure crack points on the deck of your board though because they are actually attached to the underside of the topmost fibreglass layer on the deck of your board (they don't adhere to foam).

  7. My quiver consits of A Fish 6'0 ,my standard everyday board 6'5 X2 , a mini gun ,6'8 a egg 8'6  and a longboard 9'6. My wife says if I get and more boards she will throw me out. I will miss her

  8. A quiver is the surfboards that you own that are designed towards different waves and conditions.

  9. like everyone else said, a quiver is basically a group of boards you own that allow you to perform in different wave types. i have a "high performance" quiver. i have 6 boards--that i rotate--one comes in, one goes out. i have a 6'0" rocket fish, 2 6'3"s, 1 6'4", 1 6'6" and a 7'2" mini-gun. i have some friends that are pro, and between contest boards and free surf boards they can have as many as 25 un-ridden boards in their house.
