  1. A typical day looks very long, hot, and filled with lifes many aches and pains.

You can be high then low but rest assure your *** will walk and then walk some more.

Typical and USMC infantry should never be spoken together as there is nothing typical about it.

  2. PT PT PT and oh wait some more PT...humps humps and more humps then after that PT some more then maybe some class and then PT...you get my point as well as everyone elses

  3. think heavy pack on your back, humping (forced march) for miles and miles, in the searing heat.  then lie on the ground to sleep, and then get up early and do it all over again.

  4. From what I can remember firewatch woke us up around 0500 or 0600 and we had to be down at formation in front of the barracks about 0630 or 0700. At around 0730 there was a company movement to chow (breakfast) and then there are classes or practical application on weapons systems from about 0830-1200 then movement to lunch then more of the same after lunch until the end of the day which was around 1600 or 1700 IF you were in Garrison that day. After about the 3rd week, the company splits up into the 0311s (Riflemen-about 3 platoons) and the WEAPONS platoon (Machine Gunners, Mortarmen, Assaultmen, etc) Once they split up, each platoon does one week of a specific specialty. For instance for 0311, you spend a week practicing ambushes, a week shooting belt-fed crew served weapons, a week doing squad tactics (squad rushing, patrolling), a week doing ambushes and defensive tactics (foxholes, hasty ambushes, deliberate ambushes) and there are humps at the end of each week. We did a few humps when I was in. Started out with a 5 mile, then progressed through to 7, 12, 15, and 20 mile humps. The 20 miler took from 2300-0730 and EVERYONE had blisters after that. Quite S****y. There is a 3-5 day jungle war at the end where everybody gets together. Now I went through this in early 2002 before Iraq and at the beginning of Afghanistan, so I'm sure (I HOPE) its changed to more relative tactics than Jungle foxholes. We did Urban Tactics then as well, but just one week. I'm sure its more emphasized today. Hopefully I helped you out.
