  1. it depends on your destination, eg:where i live you can go to zimmernachweis  and there you can find what you want or an agent where they have a lot to offer,they are called MARKLER

  2. first of all a warning, if you do want to buy in germay, you must know that it HAS to be fairly permanent. You can't sell the property like you can in the USA or England, or anywhere else that i'm aware of. Therefore i really think you should visit the property before you actually purchase it!

    IF you SELL the property within 10 YEARS of the purchase, the GERMAN GOVERNMENT (Finanzamt) will charge you 50% SALESTAX and that's on the salesprize.

    Now if you are still interested in buying a property in germany, here is some websites:

    http://www.s-immobilien.de/index.html

    http://www.immobilien.de/

    now, these sites are in german, but since you are planning to live there, i'd assume you can speak it. If you like some help i'd be willing to guide you. I am german and am currently selling a house in germany....

    PS.: if you aren't sure you want to stay in germany for 10 years, do not consider renting the house out, the rental laws are VERY hard in germany, and getting a tenant out of your property is very difficult and expensive... trust me, i just got my deadbeat tenant out Feb28th....

    Good luck.

    Mel

  3. There is no global website for the whole of Germany, especially not in English. You need to pick a city first, then start searching for a place in that city.

    You also might want to ask the question in answers.yahoo.de too. If you need help searching for an appartment in Germany, try http://www.toytowngermany.com

    http://www.meinestadt.de/

    http://wohnung24.de/

    http://www.immobilienscout24.de/

    http://mitwohnzentrale.de/

    http://www.pro-wohnen.de

    http://www.wohnpool.de/

    http://www.immonet.de/

    http://www.wohnung.net

    http://www.vermietung-online.de/

  4. Look at the local news papers in the city you want to live in.  Most city news papers will have an on-line version with the apartment advertising.  They will have a lot more information, but they usually come from Immobiliens and will add a moving cost of 1.5-2X the rent.

  5. Depends on which part of Germany you'll be staying.... my parents lives in the blackforest area and they suggested these agencies. For cologne, Dusseldorf and bonne http://www.e-rent.de/en/rental-agency.ht...   ....In Berlin, try the Exberliner Property @ By E-mail: property@exberliner.com

    Phone: ++49 (0) 30 4737 2964

    Mobile: ++ 49 (0) 173 610 4659

    Fax: ++49 (0) 30 4737 2963

    here's a link for Munchen too.... http://www.toytowngermany.com/wiki/Apart...

    another link that might be usefull to you too... http://www.allgrund.com/index.htm

    Got a few more link but it's all in German language and I don't know if you can speak the language or not..... anyway,  all the best.
