Whats an INDEPTH environmental chem topic that I can do a paper and presentation on? not just 'global warming'

people in my class are doing things like Mg's effect in the ocean on the nervous system and so on. But I'm the type of person that needs her prof to give her the topic so I'm sort of stuck. Keep in mind this is a college course(environmental chemistry) and we know everything about global warming that we can fit into our brains. I wanted to do something over water treatment or biocides but we went over that stuff a lot too! so I need something that most people in the class won't be familiar with! Thank you!!

How about how riparian buffers filter nutrients (like nitrogen) out of stormwater before it goes into a stream?
