Question:

Whats an appropriate wedding gift for Dad?

My dad is getting remarried this weekend and I am unsure if a $300 gift is enough. The wedding is out of town and I need to stay overnight for two nights. I paid for my room the first night, but my dad is paying for the second night. I feel guilty that he is paying for my room on HIS wedding night, but I just cant afford it. (I didn't ask, he just paid it) I did spend $250 on the shower and that is not including the $150 shower gift I gave. My dad is living comfortably and I feel like $300 is nothing compared to what he is spending and makes. (and technically since he is paying for my $100 room, I am really only giving a $200 gift) I live on my own, which is why I'm so broke. The guilt that he is paying for my room is really getting to me.

  1. You don't have to get something expensive, just thoughtful and unique. Check out this website: Giveacaricature.com

We are getting some made for our bridesmaids and groomsman as gifts, why not a special one of the two of them. It's unique and fun and something more special than a toaster.

  2. I'd say it's more than enough.  Just being there and helping out with the wedding is a priceless gift too.

  3. Never base a gift on monetary value. What seems generous to one may seem stingy to others. Always choose a gift from the heart based on your relationship with your loved one and taking into consideration their personality and your budget. I've seen where daughters have written heartfelt notes on beautiful stationery which brought tears to the eyes of a many a proud dad. use your heart and you'll find just the right gift that will send the perfect message.

  4. I think that is more than enough. You are his daughter, not his parent. I would hope that he is well off by now, he has and adult daughter! Give him a nice thoughtful gift and help him celebrate his special day.

  5. a nice picture album is fitting, not too expensive, but you could get it personalized with a date plate or something.

  6. you're his daughter.  he, obviously, wants you there.  i'm sure he doesn't expect the hope diamond from you.

just relax and enjoy his wedding.
