  1. diet coke and mentos

it sounds stupid but if you want to get technical its basically a reaction between the ingredients in the coke and the mentos

    which deliver the outcome

caffeine, potassium benzoate, aspartame, and CO2 gas + gelatin and gum arabic

    thanks

  2. Here's a good resource.

  3. I faced a similar dilemma 15 years back. I did this: take 2 types of ink: Red & Blue (The normal fountain pen inks). Poured equal amounts of Inks & water in a glass beaker. Take a chalk & suspend it in the solution. Even though the mixture is homogenus mixture, In about a minute you'll see the three layers of water, red ink & the blue ink. this is because of ADSORPTION, which is a surface phenomenon & is different from Absorption. The three ingredients: Water, red ink & Blue ink have different adsorption properties..

You could also make a small fire extinguisher.. All you need is Baking Soda & Vinegar. Mix them two & you get CO2.. Be careful, its an extremely vigorous reaction & once started can not be stopped.

  4. Here is an easy one. Make a working model of the planet Saturn. Fill a large mixing bowl with cool water, one inch from the top. Stir the water in one direction until a vortex forms, place a ball in the vortex and then sprinkle coarse, black pepper into the water, the pepper will form rings around the ball.
