  1. The credit limit and the accompanying rate don't really have much to do with the card itself...these are mostly determined by your credit score (and income). Stay away from the usual suspects that target "poorer credit" such as Providian, Capital One, Orchard Bank etc. Bank credit cards are typically more competitive. I have Citi and Bank of America. Both gave me really high credit limits and both have promo rates of zero% (up to 9%for their remaining life). Just remember not to use the cards unless you pay it off each month! Your limits will increase over time..so don't expect a new card to offer a really high limit right off the bat. They have to learn to trust you first! Mine started out at probably $1000 12 years ago and have increased A LOT since that time. Each year they continue to increase and they offer me better rates as they see that you use them responsibly.

  2. credit cards designed for people with little or no prior credit card history, and trying to build their credit

  3. Almost all major credit card issuers can provide you with a credit limit greater than $5000. But it depends on your credit score and other factors such as your income level - whether or not you'll be approved for that amount.

There's tons of offers to choose from - each with different features and benefits. American Express, Citi and Chase provide a variety of offers and seem to get the highest consumer ratings. Companies that get the most complaints include: Capital One, HSBC and Bank of America.
