I have an element LCD HD TV and it has all the required inputs including HDMI VGA and componnent. My question is what would be a cost effective choice of systems to use with this TV and my XBOX 360, I want a woofer but I could do without the receiver (the xbox is a sufficient media player) unless I need one.

My price range is $99-$299

  1. First of all their are still many 5.1 or even 6.1 for that matter receiver[s] that are out their on the market that may can fit your price range, and I wouldn't be surprised if you was to run across a 7.1 for that matter, but I really would suggest going with a 5.1 [or so] if you are just gaming and you want minimal effect[s] meaning that you not being a movie buff as myself.  Onkyo, make some what they call Home Theaters in a Box and so does Pioneer, and Sony all with good receivers added with them so to give you an idea on your quest that is a good route.  On the other hand if you are want to build then that would reach more in the wallet.  Try places such as Bestbuy, Circuit City, Wal-mart, for that matter but make sure to go with a good well known name brand (such as the ones above) to be safe.
