Whats an open deck or closed deck engine?

or easier to work with

A open deck engine has all of the original openings around the cylinders and a closed deck engine has those openings closed by machining it.......

The closed deck is a better engine because you can get more power and you have less chance of blowing the head gasket.

In my opinion the closed deck would be easier to work on overall.
