i'm new to biology this term and this prac is just a practice one, it's easy.

there are 3 pairs of pipe cleaners, each pair a different length. one of each pair is white and the other is coloured. place the pipe cleaners in pairs so that you have a white one and a coloured one in each pair. this represents a BODY CELL.

the task is to make s*x CELLS. for this select one long chromosome, one medium and one short. how many different s*x cells can you make?

THE ANSWER IS 8. ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS what would the overview/hook be? (cause i'm not familiar with the term) btw cant ask my teacher cause its the weekend and i want to get it done. And what would the hypothesis be, if any?

thank you

  1. Without an exact statement of the question where the term "overview/hook" was used, it is difficult to determine what your teacher is wanting.  In terms of the biology, the answer is eight due to simple combinations and permutations mathematics:  2^3 = 8.

In visual form, if your chromosomes are A and a, B and b, and C and c, then your possible gametes are:

    diploid parent cell:

    ABC

    abc

    possible gametes:

    ABC

    ABc

    AbC

    Abc

    aBC

    aBc

    abC

    abc
