I have a B.A., lots of student debt and I am excellent with young children--my patience with my own toddler astounds others : ) I currently work with uninsured patients at a hospital, and plan to change careers. I think I would enjoy being a kindergarten teacher or maybe even pre-k. I've heard of alternative routes to becoming a teacher if you don't already hold a teaching certificate. Where are they currently hiring or do I have to apply to Teach for America? Is there another program who will reimburse more than $9,000 of student debt (Teach for America reimburses about $9,000)

  1. Hi,

I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate. Icame across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

  2. First, good for you in that you have your Bachelors degree (only about 28% of the American workforce actually has one) and that you have the patience needed to work with children ... that is so critically important to motherhood as well as teaching.

I'm in the Philadelphia, PA metro area and there are many programs in the Philadelphia School District (see web link below) where you can pursue alternative routes to becoming a teacher.

In addition, over the past few years  I have taught Teach for America cohorts and I readily admit to enjoying their energy, sense of commitment, and willingness to take the so-called "road less traveled" (a link provided also).

There's another player in town called the "Philadelphia Teaching Fellows" and I've provided a link to their web site below.

If you need some specific information about the colleges in the Philadelphia area that already work with TFA, then feel comfortable in following up with an email.

Again, congratulations on what you've already accomplished and good luck in your new ventures!

  3. New York City and many other ciies (Chicago, Denver among them) have a Teaching Fellow Program that offers alternative routes to teaching. Just  Google the city + teaching fellows and the websites should give more details about students loan reimbursement.
