Both runnig at 1.6 GHZ

Celeron : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeron#Celeron_Dual-Core_.28Core.29

Pentium : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_Dual_Core

If they both have 1.6 GHZ would there be any or is it just branding?

  1. there are many other factors in cpu other than ghz. there is a thing called fsb, which transfers ram faster. go check, the faster fsb would perform better. another thing is l2 cache. l2 cache determines how much memory your pc can handle. if one of the processors has better fsb but the other has more l2 cache, then they are about the same.

  2. Simplest explanation - the Celeron dual core would be like a Chevy Cobalt, while the Pentium Dual Core would be like a Cadillac.
