  1. Some line take young people the other take 55+ you will injoy more with your peer. cruise line almost same service and food.

  2. there are MANY differences. A cruise line can differ with anything.

Some have small ships, others have 14 deckers.

Some go to alaska, some go to the bahamas, some even go to their own private islands!

Certain cruises appeal to only adults, others aim towards nothing but kids, others do both.

Some have good reputations, others don't.

    some cheap, others expensive.

It all depends on what you mean.

my personal favorite is Disney Cruise Line

  3. You should get a book from your library or bookstore about cruising.  It would describe the general attributes of the different cruise lines.

Or you could go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Reviews" [especially "Member Reviews"].  You might also want to click on some of the topics on the home page and check out "Cruise Styles", which describes the "life-styles" on the different ships.

There are mass-market lines [in ascending order of quality]:  Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess; "premium" mass-market lines:  Celebrity and Holland America; and the luxury lines, like Seaborn, Crystal, etc.

  4. as someone mentioned,  cruisecritic.com is a good resource.  All your mass market lines offer a similar product in terms of quality.  There are some differences however but they are minor. NCL has something called freestyle which means that you don't have assigned dining times  / tables. HAL is geared more towards senior citizens and as you can imagine, the activities a geared a bit more towards them.  CCL and RCCL are your 'family' type of cruises and have all kids of varied activities and alot for the kids.  CCL has the waterslides on their ships while RCCL has the rock climbing walls and the surf simulators. Food and service are similar on most lines.  I don't know much about princess except that it is owned by CCL (as well as HAL, Costa) Princess I do believe offers eithor traditional as well as 'free style' dining. CCL tends to have larger rooms than the other line at least on the older ships.  On the newer ships, they all tend to have large rooms.
