What are you supposed to do during the "moment" of being baptized?

I'm thinking about getting baptized, but I'm not sure during when. I'm not sure what your supposed to do when your in the water. I know it seems like a stupid question, but I'm afraid I might do something wrong.

Thanks.

  1. Water baptism cannot save, and water baptism is not required for salvation.

Water baptism is a celebration that you're ALREADY saved, so if you're not 100% positive right now that you'll be in heaven when you die, then there's no point in getting water baptised.

The only way to be saved is by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  And if you believe, then you can get water baptised, and when you do, just enjoy the time and thank Jesus for dying for your sins and that Jesus rose from the dead!  :)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is this: The truth is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal h**l is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved!

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

  2. You get pretty wet.

You just get dunked under the water for like half a second and that's it.

  3. It's cold. But I was a baby when I was baptized, so I kind of forgot.

  4. Hi there!

What you're supposed to do, is hold your breath, lol.

It's amazing when you get baptized. I got baptized in a lake maybe four or so days ago. It was surreal. Of course, I felt like a new person. There was something completely different about me, like I left something behind.

In my baptism, I had to stand in the water up to my waist, answer a few questions, admitting myself to Jesus Christ our Savior, and after that was done, my pastor leaned me back into the water completely.

The water filled my nose, my sinuses stung, my throat felt somewhat sandpaper-y and I felt pretty cold after. IT WAS AWESOME!

Don't worry, all you really need to know is whether or not you're admit yourself to Jesus or not, and if you promise to lead a life following Him.

It's basically a public confession to Him, and letting your church know that you are a member of the body of Christ.

Edit: Yep, you're supposed to hold your breath. They allowed us to cover our noses if we really didn't want water going into our nose. But I didn't.

Hope that helped, and God bless you!

  5. It's like taking a bath in public with your clothes on and without your favorite bath beads.

  6. well, what religon are you being baptised into???

  7. what's to do?  You are receiving a sacrament Jesus instituted for our salvation.  Be prayful and thankful.
