  1. Corn is my favorite carp bait.  I like to throw some in the water 1/2 hour before I fish to draw the carp in and get them feeding.  Then I use a small snell hook and put a kernal or two on and throw it out without a weight or bobber.  Trust me - when a carp takes it you'll know it.  I've never caught a catfish on corn, but I have on worms, doughballs, meat, cheese.  With corn I usually catch carp and bluegill.

  2. carp usually bite on doughballs and nightcrawlers. If your using a doughball, it would be too heavy for a bobber, so use a sinker and let it float from the bottom. And also if it is your first time, i wouldnt suggest going for carp. They are huge and put up a hard fight. Trust me. One pulled in my pole once.

  3. You won't catch carp off a bobber.Anything carp eat the catfish will go for too.You should be happy catching anything.
