This is an article I wrote about those 'green pond blues.'  It gives you several alternatives

  2. You have to put up some sort of shade the sunlight usually creates the algae.

Your going to have to go to the pond place and get an additive to clear it up.

Then put the stuff in weekly till your able to shade it.

  3. The water will probably soon clear. The reason for the algae is usually high nitrogen, warm weather and lots of sunlight. You need to control those three things if you want to stop algae growing without adding chemicals to the water.

Keep nitrogen out of the water. Don't feed the fish, if any. Make sure you don't have too many fish. Make sure you don't have any run-off from your yard going into the pond. Do not fertilize any plants with soluble fertilizer. Don't let dead leaves or grass clippings get into the water.

Grown some greedy plants like water lilies or water hyacinth. They shade the surface, keeping the water cooler, and they suck up nitrogen.
