Whats best way to clean ears ?

I use cotton buds everynight after a shower ...but i have read that it just pushes the wax back into the ear..well i imagine i have alot deep down if i use a cotton bud them everynight ! !...

I have read that there is something you can get from a Chinese medicine dealer that you put in the ear light it and it sucks all the wax out via pressure from the flame.

aargh, dont do that , and dont use cotton buds, you are just compressing the wax, go to your Dr, and ASK him for "OTIMIZE" ear spray, (its fantastic), and after using it for a week, just put a drop or two of olive oil in each ear once a week.

ps, NEVER PUT ANYTHING BIGGER THAN YOUR ELBOW IN YOUR EARS.

MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TO JUST FILL MY EAR WITH WATER WHILE I AM IN THE SHOWER AND LET IT SIT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND LET IT OUT... HE SAID TO REPEAT A COUPLE OF TIMES....

Ear drops. You can get it from a clinical doctor for a price or go to the pharmacy at the Albertson's store. I tilt my head to the side and put in 6 to 8 drops. As your head is tilted. i can feel the liquid going inside. It might make you jerk a little bit. Then you know it is inside. Then i lay down carefully on my side, watch tv and you can feel it working in there. it will break up the wax. You will hear popping sounds. It is the oxygen getting through. When you don't hear the krackling or popping anymore, then go to your bathroom sink and with the water ball that came with your kit, full it it with warm water filled up in the sink. Tilt your head the other way so that the liquid can flush out. I squirt and flush out several times. I dry the ear inside.  Then do the same thing with the other ear.

  Do NOT use the cone and fire method. smoke can also cause deafness. This is just snake oil people trying to get money out of you.

Wax has to be broken up and arregatered and flushed out to come out.

  Yes. Wax being pushed back furthur can really cause major problems. You do not want to have surgery for them to put tubes in your ears.

Try putting a bit of Olive Oil into your ears for a couple of minuets then get a tissue or the cotton buds that have a thick bit at the end and scrape the now liquified wax out

I use cleanex and twist so that it goes into my ears.Then I press my ear with my oher hand while I'm twisting the cleanex. I'm able to do a bettter job with cleanex htan wih -tips,

Hey Jason  greetings from the USA .. First do not put cotton in youre ears

besides pushing wax farther in , the fibers can come loose and get stuck inside the canal causing irritaion and infection.

Do not use cotton swabs either

The very best thing you can use to clean youre ears out is an ear syringe

and Hydrogen Peroxide .. The syringe looks like a a bulb shaped instrument used to clean out nasal passages of infants .You simply dip it in the peroxide and squeeze the bulb and it vaccums it up then you tilt youre head over and squirt it gently into youre ears.It is best to get a mate or someone else to do it .. You will feel the peroxide churning inside it will clean the canals out completely .Afterwards use the syringe to wash out youre ears with warm water . Thats it ...You can find an ear syringe at you're chemist ... Also ask the chemist for an ear wax removal product so you can keep this on hand in case any wax gets stuck in there.

Since youre  in the UK explain to the chemist what it is used for so their is no misunderstanding..

Cotton buds are ok if you use them lightly and use them when the cotton it wet not dry...

Your ears clean themselves naturally, it's extremely rare that you need to use anything other than your flannel to clean what you can reach, you should never poke anything in you ear, not a screwed up flannel and definitely never a cotton bud.

In the unlikely event of your years getting blocked, use warm olive oil or drops from the chemist, if it persists, have them syringed by your practice nurse or doctor.

You are correct, you should never put anything in your ears, smaller than your elbow, that includes candles! If you are concerned about debris or wax in the ear canal, simply use almond oil.

a doctor will tell you that nothing bigger than your elbow should go into your ear using cotton buds [from experience] gives you infections in your ears now I use a tissue for a quick clean out or the corner of a facecloth

ear candling can be very dangerous if you dont know what you are doing.  It is usually performed by a specialist.

you can use Q-tips to clean the outer ear and at the entrace to the ear canal but just leave the inner ears alone.  The wax naturally works it's way out.  Doing this will keep your ears reasonably clean and socially acceptable.

If you develop a problem wax issue you can have the doctor clean your ears a couple of times a year too.
