  1. 1080P

  2. "P" means progressive scan.  Some dvd players in the last few years have that capability -mine is like 4 years old and has a dip switch to change it over.

"I" means interlaced and is the standard for older video.

Progressive and Interlaced describe how the video is displayed on the screen.

Interlaced scan is easier to produce because it separates each frame into 2 interlaced pictures that when alternated fast enough appear as one solid picture.  So the video processor in the tv doesn't have to create a video the size of the screen; it creates one half of the size of the screen.  This allows the use of cheaper processors.

Progressive consists of solid pictures for the frames.  This requires a higher-end processor, but has a much better quality and vibrance.  It can be difficult to spot the difference between the two.

but progressive is better.  however, you need to make sure you have all of the right components for it to work.  namely, the dvd player needs to have progressive capability, the tv obviously does too, the cable can be a standard RCA composite cable i believe.  I don't think it matters what dvd you play.

  3. p

  4. "p" is progressive and p is for digital movie view from computer / digital lcd + blu ray hd dvd

"i"  is interlaced for standard dvd ; output from dvd players to normal flat tv / not lcd

"p"  is better if you have blu ray + lcd 30 inch / up display.

otherwise "i" and "p" are the same
