  1. Both of the breeds you've mentioned aren't known for being submissive. They're both known for being bold and somewhat independant. Both are very smart, but both are known to have "selective obedience". If your qualifications for a dog are that it be easy to train and submissive, then I would look to a different breed.

Many of the spaniels are known for being submissive.

Of course, in any breed there are going to be variations in temperment. For instance, although the rottweiler is known to be dominant, there are submissive examples of the breed. It is the same in any breed.

You can try to pick out a more submissive pup from a litter by rolling the puppy on its back while you are holding it and if it doesn't struggle and licks at you, then it's *probably* going to be submissive.

Or, you can get an already grown dog from a rescue and they will know its temperment.

    Good luck.

  2. Personally I like the look of the Samoyed.  I have come across one that was owned by an old lady.  The dog was very friendly, loving and above all obedient.  They just look awesome.

I always go for a guard dog breed ( Just my preference ) but if I did not then I would consider a Samoyed.  They are almost too perfect to be true.  You would be the centre of attention with one of these.  When I passed the Samoyed I just had to ask the lady if I could stroke it.  I own an Akita and they get a lot of attention aswell.

  3. I love Samoyeds.  They are fantastic dogs.  Except they do need to be groomed regulary as they can get very knotty.  But their fur is self cleaning.

  4. The best thing to do is to google both breeds and read up on them.  This way you can make a fair comparison and decide on the perfect new addition to your family.  Best wishes.  Also there are many rescue groups for any breed you can think of and they are all looking for a good home.  Lots have been abused so you'd be giving one a whole new life.
