  1. Actually component video cables, in MOST cases, cannot deliver full high definition of 1080p, their resolution maximum is only 720p (in most cases). If you want to take advantage of your HDTV, use an HDMI cable, which delivers video in full 1080p resolution and high fidelity digital sound. (Component video is an analog signal vs HDMI is a digital one)

However, if you have a basic DVD player, then component video should be just fine (make sure to have a sound source though). BUT!! If you have an upconverting DVD player which can upconvert the resolution of a regular DVD to near 1080p, then you should get an HDMI :)

  2. Using an HDMI cable will give you the best picture. Component requires a separate audio cable, and HDMI doesn't. Component video will give you a good picture, but HDMI will give you the best picture.

  3. Component video and HDMI are capable of outputting full HD video (1080p). The major difference is that some varieties of component cable also require an RCA stereo connection to the TV while the HDMI carries both audio and video to the destination.

    Hope this helps!

  4. what are you asking?  HDMI I would think
