Whats better a 2 stroke ped or a 4 stroke and why?

It all depends...a 2-stroke creates more emissions, but it is easier to maintain and repair than a 4-stroke. I personally like 2-strokes because they're very durable.

lighter

some states are restricting their use due to higher emissions

4-stroke

More fuel efficient (about 60%)

Heavier

Cleaner emissions

Quieter

I went with 4-stroke for my second  26-foot sailboat and wished I had stayed with a 2-stroke.    I did like that I had a longer cruising range on the same tankage.   I found the noise difference to be notable, but not significant and the extra weight to be a real drag.  I didn't feel the extra cost justified the differences, but I think you need to look at your own circumstances.
