  1. Q9300 defiantly but if its an upgrade make sure your motherboard is compatible and you can get somebody to install it correctly because they are very difficult to insert correctly.

  2. Q9300 hands down! Its got a higher clock speed, a higher cache, a later stepping and far better architecture so its a much better overclocker. And it has a higher bus speed and its cooler. Stories of Q6600s being overclocked from 2.4GHz to 3.6GHz via water and air cooling have turned into Q9300s from 2.5GHz to 4.5GHz via nitrogen, water and air cooling. And you can get the Q9450 (2.66GHz), Q9550 (2.86GHz), and Q9650 (3.0GHz) for far lower than the preposterous rates for which Intel pump up the enthuasiast Extreme range.

  3. Whichever is faster.

  4. People say the Q9300 but I have both the q6600 in my pc and the q9300 in my little brothers pc. The q6600 is ridiculously overclockable even on the stock heat sink. When I was still using the stock I had my q6600 oc to 3.2 on just air. I recently upgraded to liquid but to be quite honest the q6600 is so fast that even if you do not oc you will not notice the difference. I did not oc it when I first got mine it was not until recently I stared to oc it. Overclocking is not that hard with the q6600 literally my mother and grandmother could do it. If you have the money to buy the q9300 but I am telling you you will not notice the difference in games or with day to day task. If you are a pc gamer be more concerned with the graphics card (my brother uses an nvdia 8800gt with his q9300 and I use a 9800 gx2 with my q6600 oc to 3.6ghz). You cannot go wrong either way but If I were you I would just buy the q6600 and use the remaining money to invest in a 3party (air coolers are cheaper and to be quite honest zalman makes heat sinks that run circles around my liquid cooling) cooler or put more money towards a graphics card.

  5. Q9300 is the way to go, but your motherboard must support 45nm
