I am building my own box for my two Kicker L5's. They are 1200 watt max, 600 watt rms. I wanted to know if i should build a ported box, or a sealed box. Also, when i build the box, should i make it two separate chambers or make it one big chamber? oh yea, one more thing, does it matter where the port is?

  1. hey man If i were you I would Build One big chamber box and have it ported My buddy of mine had kicker L7's and he had his box built like i mentioned to you and it SLAMMED..

  2. definitely ported..  dual chamber..  and have ports facing at least 4" from the rear of your car

  3. There is quite a bit of design work involved in building a ported box. If you're up to the task, I would build a basic slot port. Make sure you double check all of the math. Keep in mind that a poorly designed ported box will sound horrible.

Here are some links to a good ported design tutorial and some free ported designs.

All of the free designs can be used with any driver. Just make sure to pick one with the right volume and tuning frequency for the subs.

  4. go ported

each sub HAS to be in its own chamber

and it does matter where the port is

if you are serious you will need these thiele/small peramerters to plug into your box building software http://www.kicker.com/06/tech-support/ts...

    this should help http://www.caraudiohelp.com/subwoofer_en...

  5. definetly ported the l5's are meant for SPL not SQ and id make 2 chambers and it doesnt really matter were the port is
