Whats better for a begginer skim boarder

i was wondering whats better for a begginer skim boarder, a fiberglass or wood board. also, could you provide a little detail on the better one. Thanks

  1. for a beginner, wood. wood is for the sand. you'll get used to sliding and balancing. when you're ready for waves, fiber glass.


  2. Either is fine. I would recommend fiberglass because it goes faster and is just better, it floats better and stays above the water better. Wood isn't bad, but since you are beginning sand causes it to chip and you can get splinters and stuff if you fall on the board or something, which is likely because your new to it. It happened to me. Fiberglass is a much better experience. I would recommend a victoria or zap, go look here online

    Oh and wax would help you keep your balance. Get sticky bumps or bubblegum wax. First, apply a basecoat, then apply a regular coat of the wax. They have different waxes for the different temperatures of the water. Also grip pads are helpful, on that website they also have grip pads. You should get a back pad to start (:
