squats vs deadlifts

which is better for fighting athletes (ex. boxing, mma, judo, etc.)?

  1. depends.

    if you go for tkd strengthen legs for kicking power

    mma/boxing deadlifts for punches


  2. Either one...

    Both are great lifts if done properly.

    Squats work a different part of your legs, your quads and glutes. Where deadlifts are hamstring, abs and glutes pretty much specifically.

    Both do some work on your lower back as well.

    Personally in my circuit set I end up doing both, or when I am doing legs I will do both of them.

    I don't think either one specifically is better than the other, they are both olympic style lifts and can help you with explosive power. They both are good leg exercises.
