  1. Its really a personal preference. Guinea pigs require more attention than a hamster. And with guinea pigs its best to get two as they are more happy in pairs. If you are planning to get a  syrian hamster, then only get one, as they will fight to the death if you want two.

Here are the advantages and disadvantages for a hamster.

    Advantages

    -Don't need that much attention.

    -Cost less.

    -Quite hardy animals

-Dwarf hamsters go well in pairs

    -Fun and playful

    -Cute ;)

    Now the Disadvantages

-If they come down with a illness then they can be hard to treat.

-Dwarf hamsters may still fight so if you are going to get dwarf hamsters then have a spare cage.

-Can get quite smelly when they are in heat.

    -Live for 2-3 years

    ...;)

Now the advantages of Guinea Pigs

    -Quite hardy

    -Very fun

-Very cute when you seen the two of them snuggling together

-Not too much work (but more than a hamster)

    -Clean

    -Live to 5-6 years

    Now the disandvantages

    -Can be noisy

    -Can be expensive.

    -More work than a hamster.

More food that you need to buy etc.

If you really want my opinion then if you want a low matinence pet then go with a syrian hamster, but if you want a longer living pet then go with a guinea pig ;)

    Hope I helped!

    Best Wishes,

    Sophie

  2. DEFINITELY guinea pigs

i used to keep hamsters, and i think they are not as fun to play with as guinea pigs.

some of the major differences that make guinea pigs better:

-their urine does not stink, (hamster's urine smells AWFUL)

-they are willing to sit still and let u put them anywhere

-they are not as noisy as hamsters (the hamster wheel is SUPER annoying) (guinea pigs does not squeak that often, when they do, its very cute)

-guinea pigs are not nocturnal, they would take naps during day time every now and then

-they dont bite ppl, (hamster tends to be a little bit more dangerous in my experience)

-u can teach them "real" tricks (go on youtube and watch the vids to see what the pigs can do)

-although guinea pigs are bigger, their cuteness definitely will not lose to hamsters.

  3. Guinea pigs are better, may cost more but you get more from them, dont see the point in hamsters to be honest they dont even stay still and they sleep all the time the only positive thing about them is there cute

  4. TEDDY BEAR HAMSTERS!

They're furry and rarely nip compared to other types

  5. I think you should get a hamster.  A hamster is smaller and cuter. The problem is that he lives only about 3 years...but hey ..you can't live forever. He is very playful and likes to explore. So i suggest you get him a nice cage properly so he won't get bored.

Guinea pigs are very scary and timid  and personally, i don't like them. But they typically live an average of four to five years, and may live as long as eight years. I think you should get to the pet store and see what you'll like there at that moment. I'm sure you won't regret it.

  6. hamster coz they cuter

  7. definatly a hamster because guinea pigs squeek way tooo much

  8. A hamster hands down. They are cuter and are fun to watch.

  9. Personally I would have to say hamster since they are smaller, but either are good. I have a dwarf hamster.

  10. guineapigs NEED to be in pairs and have frsh fruit  veg n hay n safe run on the grass outsideb n live about 6 yrs

where as a syrian hamster jus needs a simple wire! cage a ball n dry fd mix they are cheaperb to keep n live for about 2 years

i have both but hamsters are easier. make sure you completly read about the care of both of them before hand and gd luck

if u want to knw anything about either pm me :)

  11. Either one is fine to ADOPT http://www.petfinder.com/ not buy but their care is significantly different so you should do some search.

Here are good guinea pig sites www.guinealynx.info and www.guineapigcages.com

  12. Firstly, a hamster lives for only about 1~3 years, while guinea pigs can live up to 5 years or more. First, are you the type of person who loses interest easily? If so, a hamster would be better. and another important thing is the MONEY. Guinea pigs' living can be REALLY COSTLY. I had 2 guinea pigs before and you won't believe how much they cost me. Hamsters don't cost that much. The hamster itself is really cheap, and the other accessories are all quite cheap. Guinea pigs, on the other hand, EVERYTHING is expensive. Secondly, hamsters are easy to take care of. They are ideal pets for first-time pet owners. Guinea pigs, on the other hand, are more difficult to take care of.
