Whats better to level 1 pokemon to a very high lvl or lvl all 6 to a necessary lvl

Question

when i start a new game it always ends the same with me, where i only lvl the starter i got to a high lvl in diamon will that be my downfall in the end and make me have to lvl 5 more pokemon?

You might need more than one good pokemon. Usually I start with leveling a pokemon to quite high, but at some point, I turn back to look at all the others to make sure their not too far behind, like maybe only by 10 lvls.

It all depends on your style tho, I just explained mine. but obviously one high level is not enough, if you like having all uneven pokemon levels in your team, I suggest that you at least have 2 or 3 high levels, If one goes K.O from facing a pokemon its weak to, then you'd be in trouble. So find at least 2 good pokemon that back up each other's weaknesses.

It's a different case if you decide to battle others in wi fi, cause most people has all lvl 100 before battle, so only 2 good pokemon might not be enough, even if they do back up each others weaknesses. At that point, make sure that even your lowest level is at least over lvl 50.

it depends what pokemon and how high u get it u can level up just one if u have patiants and then get all of them leveled and u should not have to worry and it depend on what version it is if red blue or yellow just one pokemon should do because there are rare candy cheats to get ifianty

It would be a good idea to take the extra time and lvl. everything on your team evenly. And I would reccomend getting your entire team up to at least lvl. 60 before victory road. It doesn't really matter. Depending on which Pokemon you raise up. My level 90 starmie could p**s through the elite four by itself, but my Torterra at level 85 struggle with them. So I would say having six guys that are all super effective against different things is probably better, but it works just as well with a very powerful guy.
