  1. like the above said, infantry training is the same,  You'll go to benning for basic, and possible airbourne school.  Goodluck.

  2. Infantry basic is Infantry basic.  Regardless of whether you go to 82nd, 101st or any of the other divisions.

  3. Depends on where you go to basic.  Not all Soldiers at those places will be Infantry.  In all basics they will cover the same info but it may be presented in different ways.  If you go Infantry you will go to Benning and basic will be more difficult than if you are supply and go to Jackson.

  4. ALL soldiers learn Basic Infantry skills in basic Training then you learn your MOS (job) Infantry, Armor, Cook, Medic, Engineer, Personnel, Signal, MI, etc...

Airborne &  Air-Assault,  are schools that you request later on when you are in your first assignment or a part of your enlistment contract.

  5. Your basic training will be the same for either but once you get to the unit is where the split comes.  101 is actually a light/air assualt (helocopter insertion) unit where the 82nd is purely airborne.  They both fall under the 18th airborne corp so expect rapid deployments.  Both units would be likely to send you to the respective school (air assault for 101 and airborne for 82nd) but it is not gaurunteed.  If you are looking to walk alot both of those units are great choices, but if you prefer the ground look into 10th MTN and 25 ID.
