Whats californias economy like now?

ok so right now I live in arizona and I've seen the fires in southern california on the news and have friends with family affected by the fires. so after all of this has californias economy crashed or is it making a comeback. In about a year and a half I am graduating from high school and am thinking about moving to southern california to go to college. I would prefer to start off at a city college. so would it be hard to get a part-time job say at a grocery store? and if so which city in southern california should I go to and would I have much of a problem switching a arizona drivers license to a california one since california and arizona are right next to each other? I know everythings more expensive in california but I need a change of scenery and where it actually rains sometimes.
