  1. Yes, Cygwin is command line only.

    However, you can try Cygwin/X to get a graphical user interface.

    Cygwin = GNU + Cygnus + Windows

    Note that you can't just install Cygwin and start using Linux apps, you have to compile/build every app from it's source code.
