  1. Foreign affairs, public policy, diplomacy to name a few. For your PH.D, School of Oriental and African Studies' (uni of london) anthropology department is world renowned and you have the advantage of being right next to other uni of London colleges, including UCL which has a lot of expertise in medical anth.

  2. uh, I can relate to your problem, especially the part about job prospects .. much as we're in advance, being able (with social anthropology) to do almost anything and anywhere (from journalism, to HR), I've never seen a job advert "anthropologist needed" ... we have to persuade all employers that we are qualified ,and that we do have  skills they need (and usually even more) ... my wish is to work for some humanitarian organisation, so I was thinking after I get my degree to go for applied ethics, but you could do the same with anthropological studies of religion ... I'm not so sure Medical anthropology can be studied after you get your degree in Social anthropology, I think your first degree would have to be in medical studies. After a while I decided I really can't spend my life in an office. Believing that the best way to change this world into a better is by educating people, I've made my plans for the future. Try to imagine where you want to be in 10 years, and what kind of job would make you happy, and only then decide how are you going to further your studies. Fortunately, anthropology will let you go in almost any direction you want. Not all universities are good in all fields, and after studying something so broad, maybe you should get a bit more specialised education ... when you decide what is that going to be, make a choice of uni you're going to go to.

    Good luck!

  3. Politics, social worker, business ethics, diplomacy...

lots really. You could aproach a media outlet (in the UK the BBC is the first port of call) about possible vacancies as the cultural component of social anthropology is much sought after, as the world is becoming a "smaller" place all the time.

Sorry, can't help with UK universities specialising in PHD.
