  1. The amateurs are far tougher

allot of riders could be trainers,, but they get the statues as a amateur But yes it is much more difficult

Jr,'s or also tough,,, In Florida& Calf.. the Jr.s classes are just as tough as the Amateurs But just a tad lower

The fences can be anywhere to 4,9 to 5 with really wide spreads

Some prelem classes are tough to but it's mainly for younger or horses that are becoming Jumpers , But its not that easy either The lowest fence is 3.9 goes up to 4,9 with spreads 5 foot

    Its been awhile

They do have a high and low classes for both divisions now, They did not back when I was showing

So if your horse is eligible, take him into the prelem classes do well there then move up to the  other classes

    hope that helps ?

  2. Is jumping considered racing?

  3. Depends on the division of amateur class, amateur opens for example is generally extremely difficult, there are often more competitors and the course design is often more intricate, requiring more experience to ride.  Preliminaries, or Prelims for short are considered 'an up and coming class'.  The horses and riders competeing in Prelims are usually in training for the higher levels of show jumping.
