I mean I kow what abuse is but whats domestic abuse? Whats the difference?

It is a specific type of abuse that carries additional penalties from other abuse.

"Domestic" means a spouse, other adult family member living in the same household, a couple that share a child, or two adults in a relationship that live together, even if they are not married.

The abuse can be physical, but can also be verbal if it puts the person in fear of being assaulted.

In many states, domestic abuse is a mandatory arrest, and carries a mandatory no-contact provision. In other words, it is like getting an automatic restraining order.

Domestic abuse occurs when a significant other (husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.) abuses the other.  This can be physical, mental, emotional, or a combination.
