  1. Many people believe that French is more difficult because the accent seems intimidating, but in some ways, the grammar is actually easier than Spanish (particularly the past tense), and the accent can easily be worked around.  As a side note though, before deciding if you should switch languages,  you should really check into the requirements of your school because many schools (particularly if you're  applying to college) require that you have 2 years in the same language.

  2. They are similar, but I'd say Spanish.

  3. both Latin based (similar languages)

  4. I think Spanish is easier.  I took French for awhile and switched.  I had a hard time with this since my Maiden name was "French",   Renee French.  The kids started calling me "Renee Spanish"  LOL

I agree with the above.  I took 15 min a day to review my words if I had homework or not.  Whenever I seen something or thought a sentence I would try to associate it with the English and Spanish in my head along with "picturing it"  it seemed to help.

  5. No, it is similar.  I did really bad in French.  But, it does depend on the teacher.

  6. Being a foreign languages teacher, I'll tell you that no language is really "difficult" or "easier" than any other as long as you're willing to study...take a good method, some good audio CD and work 15mns per day on your chosen language...that's it.

I am a teacher of German, English and French...i've studied Dutch and even Hebrew as an autodidact...so please believe my experience:)

  7. Neither would be considered a really "difficult" language for a native English speaker to learn, but all languages have their drawbacks.  If you just need to pass a class, maybe you should go with French - about half of the words in the English language are borrowed from French, so you'd have some advantage on written tests.

The biggest issue, though, is that you don't like Spanish - if that's the case, then it's going to be harder for you no matter what.  If you don't enjoy learning something, trust me, you won't do well in the course.  If you like French, do French!  Your GPA will be better off for it.
