  1. My 50's favorite speaker system is a set of large standing Avids which predates the KEF speakers.

    Good luck!

  2. I have Rockets for my HT right now (250s, 150s, 100 Center and PBS in the front ).

Using a Velodyne sub at the moment, but would like to upgrade to HSU or Rocket.

  3. I personally like JBL's.  I use them allot in with my company.  I work in AV industry, and let me tell you one time I was working in front of the stage and (soldering some wires) and when they were testing the speakers they played some CD with a voice intro and it kinda startled me because it sounded like the voice was coming from some one standing in front of me.  And I looked up to see who was talking to me I realized it was the speakers.  And the music sounded like I was with the musicians when they recorded it.  The two subs under the stage were so powerful that when it was turned up you could see the sound waves(vibrations) in a bottle of water sitting on the pulpit.

  4. for the subtle handling of discrete channels=tangent aventegarde 200.

for the heavy stuff=jamo d365-not for the sqeamish!!.-i don't use these often-i like to maintain good relations with the neighbours.

    sony 100w sub.

  5. RBH. 'nuff said.

  6. i have a pair of Tannoys for my front which are nice.. A Polk Audio center.. a pair of bose for my back surround.. and a Polk Audio sub... all in all.. they are pretty nice when outputting sound, except the bose, only good for support.. =D

i used to own a pair of Celestions.. i found those to be my fav

  7. Bowers and Wilkins 800's

  8. I have a nice set of Roland speakers.I don't have to turn them up very much to get complaints from neighbors who live 5 houses down.

  9. Kef aren't really that expensive, even their top of the range speakers.

They don't compare with something like the Egglstone Works 'Ivy', which retail at £75,000 a pair.

Esoteric speakers can sell for over £100,000 a pair.  As you can see, you don't actually have a really expensive taste in speakers at all...

  10. Mach5Audio

  11. bose and technics for my computer i use creative soundworks 5.1

  12. Hi, Scottie. I am still listening to a pair of Rogers Studio 1 loudspeakers from England, which i purchased in 1984.I have not heard anything better with similar specs. They are a 3 way bass reflex design. They have a very flat frequency response of 45 to 20K HZ  plus or minus 2 DB.

The drivers are a 200mm "bextrene" bass/mid cone made by Audax to Rogers' specifications. A Celestion HF 1300 tweeter. A Modified KEF T27 super tweeter.

There is a bass reflex loaded port with tube insert resonator.

The power handling rating is  300 watts rms.

These are very "neutral sounding" loudspeakers.Don't be put off by their age, few speakers can even match them today. They are happy with all types of music from heavy rock to classical. They do not have foam attached to the bass/mid driver, therefore they do not rot  and have to be replaced.

These speakers were used by the BBC as studio monitors, before they were commercially available.
