I only ask because there was easily three minutes to go in the Crows vs Hawks game and it was annoying the h**l out of me.

  1. its part of the game

    man up

  2. Yes, it is frustrating, but when my team is on the brink of winning a close game, I'd want them to keep possession, rather than taking risks, and losing the game. I'd rather watch a fast paced game.

  3. Yeah totally sends me balmy!!

It's the only time I have a crack at my own team wen they start doin that.. It spoils an otherwise good game or win!

  4. There's no law against it. I hate to see it especially if my team is passing across defensive goals and going sideways and backwards. I'm always worried that if a turn over happens it will end in a goal. When another team does it i always think there's a chance of a turn over

  5. yea i totally agree....

the best should come at the end... a big EXCITING finish that makes you glad that you kept watching... and the thing is teams are starting earlier with the kick around thing. used to be 30 seconds left, keep possession. now its like... aaahh 5 mins, hold up the game. which makes it so boring, and yeah - it is frustrating!! just go for another goal!! gee

  6. As frustrating as it is,  if everyone manned up, there wouldn't be a problem.

  7. the ONLY thing that annoys me about this, is the fact it annoys other people.

When I'm at a game and this occurs, there are often people in the crowd that just whinge (out loud <.< ) about this.. they feel the need to yell out or pretty much cry about it!!

I'm more annoyed by the crowd because I know it happens and it's a good thing... agreed - boring to watch, but if you're in front (as someone else said) you keep the ball and don't take risks... that's footy and everyone should really (look past themselves and their club and) get over it.

If it's happening *against* my club (StKilda), I don't whinge. I just hope that the players man-up and try hard for the spoil/intercept and turnover. If the Saints are doing than I'm happy because they should hold on for a win.

edit: oh yea.. I hope the AFL DOES NOT changes the rules for this. I hope kicking backwards does not mean 'play on' like in the pre-season comp... it's just silly.

  8. It annoys the h**l out of me, especially when the Kangaroos are down by less than a goal with about a minute to go. I reckon Umpires should call "play on' really quickly if this starts happening

  9. So they can help out all the dream team coaches by racking up tons of possesions and to milk the clock so that the other team can't win.

  10. Drives me insane!! Boring to watch! Short of introducing yet more rules, what can be done to stop it though? I think sometimes the defending team don't help as they seem worried about losing by 7 points instead of 1 point. The defending team should just bite the bullet and ATTACK, forcing the team ahead to play actual football and not keep-it-off

Life is about taking risks and you should never give up fighting, even when you are winning!!

  11. It really does bother me but teams will do what it takes to hold the lead so there you go...it happens in other sports

  12. Its a losing teams own fault if they let this happen, if you man up then there is no one free to kick to and the pressure builds up and a turn over occurs.

  13. they can make a rule where, if you kick the ball backwards, it's not a mark and has to played-on. that way you have to move the ball forward.

  14. I agree it is annoying but it doesn't always work  many times the ball is taken off the team with possession and a goal is kicked against it, but quite  often, then the other team tries to run the clock down, manning up is the best choice but why don't they? It was a good game crows v's hawks, good to see a close one

  15. The thing about this is that its not the players decision. This is all coming from coaches and players would have to follow orders.

I wouldnt be surprised if they changed the rules next year to something like no kicking backwards inside defensive 50 consecutive times or something.

So all players are like ohh look carlton are cheap they play basketball wheras their not cheap....its their coach!

  16. I reckon the AFL should introduce a new rule that if any team deliberately wastes time towards the end of the game should have their last goal they kicked stripped off of them by the score board umpires as well as a free kick paid against them to the opposition

  17. I always get annoyed at that too unless its Collingwood up by like 5 points then i dnt really mind. i guess if you only do it in certain games then its alrite but it does get quite annoying.
