  1. If you are worried that it will become another "Katrina" or "Andrew" - relax - those are rare examples of a cat 5 hurricane.  Just pay attention, and if they give the order to get off the island then be ready to do it.  Being on an island it makes you more vulnerable to hurricanes - so you that is a possibility.  But don't let it ruin your vacation.  Relax and have fun.  Worse case scenario - you have to cut your vacation a little short.

  2. The people on the weather channel are just trying to make everybody aware of what may come. It doesn't mean they're 100 percent right that it will come, no one's always perfect. They're trying to make you all prepared of what is expected to come. It may miss where you are, or it may not. Definitely be prepared for anything that may occur, because the weater is so unpredictible.

  3. Just checked the weather radar for texas and its still only a baby storm wind is topping out at 50mph which is really nothing to worry about i know its scary but you and your family are quite safe as long as your not camping in tents. It should cross the coast in the next couple of days it isn't moving very fast at the moment. i'll try and check later and keep you informed.

  4. category 1 is not much more than a lot of rain and wind. weather forecasters love to blow things out of proportion, it gives them something to talk about
