I'm 13. I got my period about a year ago.

for the first 3 months I had it every month.

Then I didn't have it for 3 months.

Then I had it once.

And I haven't had it since for 6 months!

(sorry, kinda confusing)

Whats going on? Should I see a doctor?

Oh, and duh, I'm a virgin.

  1. that happened to me when i first got it. your period can be irregular for about 3 years. and especially in the first year or two of having your period you might just get it 4 times that year. the first year i had it i only got it 4 times. my doctor told me that its completely normal.

  2. You're very young, you just hit puberty. For the first year or two you're going to have insane periods. Trust me. They're going to vary from time to time, they'll vary from heavy to light, you're going to be late, then get it right on time, to getting it early.

Your body is sorting out a -ton- of hormones right now.

Give it another month, and if you STILL don't get it, go see the doctor.

  3. Just sounds really irregular. 6 months is a long time though...hmmm. Have you been sick, under stress or have lost weight recently? sometimes that can mess around with your period. Check with your doc just to make sure.

  4. Common causes:

    1) Diet - what you eat (or don't) can have a huge effect on your menstrual cycle...if you are dieting to lose weight and not getting enough calories or fat you may stop having a period altogether.

    2) Exercise - if you are really active playing sports or exercising you may skip periods.

    3) Stress - if you have alot of stress at school or home or with friends, that can also affect it.

So, it could be nothing more than you are young like some others on here said. But it wouldn't hurt to think about it and see if any of those 3 things may be contributing to it. And if it doesn't start getting more regular within the next few months I would definately go to the doctor just to make sure everything is okay. :)

  5. completely normal, just give it some time to adjust and get regular, sometimes mine will skip about 2 or 3 months at a time and ive had it for almost 2 years  talk to a doctor if that makes you feel more comfortable

  6. same thing is happening to me but i got my period when i was 13 and was kinda regular then i skipped 4 months and then got it once for a couple days i saw my doctor and she said that its ok im probably still irregular but im also very active which takes a toll on it however she said if i skip more than 6 months i should go in again for some tests

this will be my 7 month without it and i dont know what i should do either i would say that you should probably tal kto a doctor

  7. Don't worry...your body is still going through puberty. It's adjusting to the changes happening to your body. Periods are often irregular when they first start out. It's normal and may take a few years to get into a regular cycle.
