  1. It will be touch and go for your bub being born that early, my friend went into premature labour at 22 weeks and had a little girl that didn't survive.

If your bub did pull through then they would be in nicu until your due date anyway and would most likley have a fair few health problems.

My daughter was born at 32 weeks and i only just found out nearly 3 years later that she wasn't breathing when she came out and doctors didn't expect her to make it very far, she was in an isollette in nicu for 6 weeks being tube fed because she didn't have the suckling reflexes, she was severley jaundice so had to have phototherapy and because she was on oxygen and heart monitors and had heaps of wires connected to her i wasn't allowed to take her out for breastfeeds or cuddles i could only put my hands through the holes and touch her and even then the doc told me not to as everytime i touched her it made her heart race.

My youngest son was born 5 weeks early and spent 2 weeks in special care,he also recived phototherapy for jaundice, was tube fed and had to have a glucose/saline drip to keep him hydrated as he couldn't keep milk down.

Keep bub in there aslong as you can 24 weeks is VERY early and VERY dangerous and it's absaloute agony having gone through child birth only to see your little one hooked up to machines and not being able to hold them or help them!

  2. It is really hard to say.  When a baby is born at 24 wks they spend a large amount of time in the NICU under special care and have to fight to survive.  They usually have breathing tubes put in and have to be kept warm and they are usually fed through a feeding tube.  They also are at increased risk for brain problems such as brain bleeds.  With medical science how it is now many babies survive even being born that early but they do have a big fight to try to survive.

  3. Hi, I hope that u carry ur child to term.  I am no expert on the subject but at a guess I will say that with modern technology ur baby will have a good chance of surviving and leading a normal life.  I know that stressing won't help either u or ur child.  Please look after ur self n make sure u get plenty of rest and take each day as it comes.  All the best n I hope that ur child is born happy n healthy.  Good luck;-)

  4. its really hard to say and it really depends on why you have to have her so early, things that you need to consider is how strong the both of you are, what ind of care she will get, if shes a fighter, if she gets an infection etc etc 4 months early is a ver long time and none of her organs will be developed read a pregnancy mag it will tell you whats developed at 5mnths or talk o a gp, birthing nurse, special care nurse every case is different

  5. Well you have certainly come to the right place for infomation on this subject. Please just consult your GP. If you really require addional reassurance consult several GPs.

Your condition is not uncommon and the chances of your child having a completely normal life are very good.
