Whats happened to the friendly welsh people?

I go to Porthmadog in Wales for my holidays twice a year as i love the place history and the friendly people.This year for the first time I noticed a change and the locals seemed unfriendly and miserable.Is it because they don't like the English or just a sign of the times.I feel that I don't want to go back again and maybe stay in England..by the way my name is david llewellyn!!!

when was they ever friendly? I've been going to north wales since i was a child and one thing always remains the same "they hate us".

I don't know about that part of Wales but I am English and have just moved to Abertillery near Newport/Cardiff and I think Welsh people are just lovely.

We always went to Wales on holiday as kids, and I took my husband there one year too. He was just saying "...so what makes you think the Welsh don't like you?" and as he said it, we came across a bridge with "ENGLISH SCUM GO HOME" spray painted across it. It was actually very funny at the time, but really I can see why they aren't thrilled. English people now days can be a pretty rude bunch. Maybe it's just people now days though.

We are hoping to move there next year still though, we want to live somewhere calm and pretty and enjoy our lives a bit more with our five year old and our Labrador puppy. Wales is so beautiful and the people are, on the whole, charming and normal still. England is running out of normal people. Seems like every third person here has some kind of social problem.

wouldn't u be a bit miserable.... if.......?

u relied on tourism for an income and not only is the country heading for a major recession all other incomes are scraping the bottom of the bowl, but the "summer" lasted approximately 5.75 days now its back to more flooding earth tremors tidal waves and gale force winds!!!

And have u seen eastenders recently???

The school kids are all getting prozac with their school meals its that bad!

not true at all, i'm english and when i go 2 wales they a right happy group of people.

i go into a cafe/bar and they love how i say ' coke' LOL its my north east england acent n they think its funny :)

i love the welsh, all my fave bands are welsh, lostprophets, FFAF, the automatic, kids in glass houses, the automatic and the blackout

I'm welsh an am still friendly. maybe you caught the good people of potrhmadog on a bad day!! I love porthmadog too an as i only live a couple of hours drive away i try to visit when i can. Give good old wales another try. x

look around you!!its usually pishing down in wales!perhaps it was one of those days.i know i dont feel very friendly when the weathers cack!!i am welsh and i do not dislike english people!!dont stay away from wale just fom one bad experience!!perhaps you should try west wales theyre always pretty friendly there!!
