  1. These people are a joke. Just suppose we had NO tax on fuel. Just imagine what the outcry would have been as the price of petrol quadrupled over the course of a year.

Petrol prices do have a high tax, but if it wasn't fuel tax, something else would have to bear the brunt. How about more income tax? More on cigarettes? More on Alcohol?

  2. Nobody will start a protest because nothing will change anyway!!! The farmer who started the protest in 2000 is out of business. He did a lot of government work and (co-incidentally) he lost a lot of his business. Just look at how the country almost stopped becasue truck drivers protested and stopped working. Just shows how much we rely on trucks. Don't forget EVERYTHING we buy, has been on the back of a truck at some point

  3. It would not do any good. It would be a waste of time. The only way to bring down the price of gas is to stop using it.

We get most of our oil from the east (Opec). They control how much oil is produced. It's a matter of supply and demand.  Opec could shut this country down. If they cut production enough to send gas prices to $10  or $12 a gallon.

We have to find a way to stop using it.

  4. I would not take part in any protest over high fuel prices.  Complete waste of time.  I would not support ANY reduction of the US Federal or State tax on gas or diesel.  Pres. candidate John McCain has put forth a proposal to drop the fuel tax between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Pure political pandering and fiscally stupid.  A few years ago my home state dropped the fuel tax and put our state into a deficit.  Fools.  As much as I do not like paying the high price for fuel, I would support a penny or two added to the fuel tax.  People are driving less.  That equates to less tax revenue to the state and fed.  That money is used for infrastructure repair and rebuilding.  I for one like good roads.  And I am willing to pay one or two cents extra at the pump.

Just my opinion on this matter.
