  1. It's a cat D write-off because the insurers considered the cost of repairs to be too high compared with the value of the car. It can be repaired and returned to the road.  Just get it checked to make sure there isn't hidden damage.  You ought to remember that it will for ever have "damaged - repaired" recorded against it, which may well affect the resale value in due course.

  2. cat d is simply a car that has been payed out by the insurance company....its the least amount of damage....a cat d could simply have a dinted wing...cat c is a heavyer damaged car ,like a bent strut.....go fo it.

    EDIT

i think bellow has getten a bit mixed up...

  3. I love 206's THEY'RE SOOO GREAT... Im planning on geting a 206cc for my first car.....

    Catagory D

Vehicles with between nine and sixteen passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg

Combinations of vehicles where the towing vehicle is in subcategory D1 and its trailer has a MAM of over 750kg, provided that the MAM of the combination thus formed does not exceed 12000kg, and the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle

Any bus with more than eight passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg

Any bus with more than eight passenger seats with a trailer over 750kg

You have to be over 21 to drive a Cat. D car

ARE YOU SURE ITS CAT. D i really doubt that it is.

You should go to http://gumtree.co.uk you will find much better condition 206's for around £10000 with much less mileage too

  4. Category D: Vehicle has been damaged, insurer decided not to repair

  5. Category D or 'cat d' as it's sometimes abbreviated to, is an insurance classification for cars that are lightly damaged, repairable but not economically viable for them to repair even although the vehicle is still usable, usually only applies to older low value cars. Category A is Scrap only, B is Salvage, C is Moderate to Major damage which is repairable but will require a VIC or Vehicle Identity Check before it is allowed back on the road.
